The aja Hotel Ruhpolding was opened in May 2019 as the first aja resort in southern Germany. It is the sixth house of the group, which belongs to the Deutsche Seereederei (DSR). In 2013 the first aja hotel was opened in Warnemünde, followed in 2015 by other hotels in Grömitz and Bad Saarow and in 2018 in Travemünde and Zurich. The aja brand has the claim to offer inexpensive wellness holidays in the German-speaking world.
The 244-room house is located in a rural setting overlooking the Chiemgau Alps. The target group are “leisure guests” such as singles, couples and families. On the other hand, due to the numerous leisure facilities in the area – such as hiking or mountain biking – many active holidaymakers are also expected. The 1,850 m² spa area is available for all, which includes an outdoor and indoor pool as well as a steam bath, a hot tub and three saunas.
The interior design pays particular attention to the local ambiente. The wood architecture of the region as well as mountain sports served as a source of inspiration. The Alps and many traditional motifs from the countryside can also be found throughout the house. The extensive gastronomic area with restaurant (220 seats) and bar has been structured and zoned by a wide variety of design elements. Brighter colours and light wood create a friendly and cozy atmosphere.
